I have to admit when I first saw the Sparks Challenge Sketch I was a little stumped. I am not the type of person that "colors in the lines" so to speak. So sketches for me sometimes are a bit challenging.
I started looking at the adorable cards made by the team and I ran into Vera's Card HERE as I was reading her post, I thought to myself. YES! YES! YES! The banner doesn't need to be a banner, the square doesn't have to be square. So my card was spinning in my mind. I wanted to make something for my husband to tell him how much I love him. This is what I came up with.
As you can see I used the sketch but in my own way I guess.
I did a really fun technique on the "moon" I put some distress ink on a craft mat, sprayed it with water, then dipped my stamp into it. I used the Space Cadet stamp set for the circles on my moon. I then took the "left over ink" on the craft mat, using an acrylic block and press the block into the ink. Quickly place it (as if you were stamping the block) on your paper. You get this cool splattered effect.
I used some white embossing powder from WOW to stamp the stars on top of the distress ink that was layed down. I really love how this turned out. I think it's a perfect way to say I love you for a "GUY" in the non-traditional reds and pinks. What do you think?
Just got your sweet comment on my blog and buzzed over to yours...and glad I did! You nailed the technique you used on the moon - it looks incredible! I let out a little gasp when I saw it ;) You are one talented girl! Your husband is going to love it. And so do I!
ReplyDeleteFAB, FAB card Anna - love it :)

This is super cute! :)
ReplyDeleteAnna, your card here is truly 'out of this world' adorable! Your interpretation of the sketch is clever; you've shown how marvellous 'colouring outside the lines' can be. I'm so glad you took the plunge into blogging, as all of us who are now members of the 'Anna Fan Club' are treated to such amazing inspiration (I beocme more enamoured with PS products each time I see someone showcase them in such delightfully charming ways, as you do - one order sent, a second 'almost' at the 'press send' stage), and 'must try' technique details. I commented - on your first post - that I too, was planning to create a site, and yayyy...I did (HUGE thank you to Shannon for all her encouragement!!). Know that I've added you to my Google Reader, so as not to miss one iota of your creativity! As a newcomer to this charming world of card-making, I'm so thankful that you're willing to share your expertise! If you want a quick peek (and a good laugh!!) at my 'challenge attempts', I'm "Carol" with the Hello Sunshine PS card. Looking forward to enjoying more of your artistry!!
